DATCU of Denton received the Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action. The award was granted to the organization for its practical application of the credit union philosophy according to Texas Credit Union League™ announcement. "The credit union visits elementary schools, presents on-site lunch and learns at local businesses and offers free financial seminars to members," said the release about how the organization has helped members and prospective members improve their financial literacy. "All of DATCU's financial education presentations are topic-specific and designed to provide attendees a better understanding of their finances and what steps they can take to improve their financial circumstances." The competition, sponsored by the Texas Credit Union League (League) and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), honors credit unions for their practical application of the "People-Helping-People" philosophy that is the hallmark of the credit union movement, said the release. DATCU's winning entry will compete with other state winners from throughout the country. E-mail entry: |
